About Whitehaven Coal

Whitehaven Coal is an Australian coal mining company founded in 1999, with headquarters in Sydney. It’s the leading producer across the country, operating four mines in the Gunnedah Basin of New South Wales. These includes open cut mines at Maules Creek, Tarrawonga, and Werris Creek, and an underground mine at Narrabri. Whitehaven Coal is also working on development and rehabilitation projects in the area. The company produces high-quality metallurgical and thermal coal for export across borders to advanced and developing economies in north and south-east Asia, delivering among the lowest carbon emissions per tonne of coal consumed in the seaborne trade.
